Paying by DD- how much does it tend to save you?

Staywarm product
Hi Malc, I did enquire about that a while back when I was paying £112 per month DD ( I have increased my insulation and reduced my gas consumption) and Eon wanted, I think, £123 per month.
I was tempted to take them up on it and heat my greenhouse to 70 deg C in the winter then common sense took over.
But I would be interested in, as I posted, paying a year in advance if I saved more than the "pitiful interest" I am getting for my savings.
And people, no need to post about how I can get more interest on my savings than I am getting after all this is a money saving site0 -
Hi Marcus
I didn't think Staywarm would be for you but thought I would mention it just in case.
I've made a note of your request and, as I said yesterday, will gladly feed this back. Will let you know if I hear anything but, to be honest, I wouldn't hold your breathe.

Hi,
This question is for Mac the Eon rep.
Im currently on E.ON HeatWise EnergyPlan tarrif (e10 i believe) and pay at the post office with a card weekly (£20).
Would switching to a monthly direct debit possibly offer any discount and save me any money?
Thanks

Hi Steve
Setting up a Monthly Direct Debit will certainly increase the amount of discount you receive.
The most you will be receiving at the moment is 3 per cent for prompt payment.
Monthly Direct Debit customers earn a total of 6 per cent for electricity only and 8 per cent for dual fuel.
However, as you are on a Heatwise meter, I suspect your property is all electric with storage heaters. Our Heatwise metering is specifically designed for this type of property.
Hope this answers your question Steve. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

Yes thanks Malc that certainly helps.
Can you tell if im on the best tariff ?
Normal primary units at 20.02p
secondary units at 10.05p
Boost units at 13.04p
Afternoon units at 5.81p
Night/ Evening units at 5.81p
Standing Charge at 9.16p per day
Will these rates also come down on direct debit ?
Thanks

Hi Steve
Heatwise is an off peak tariff designed for all electric properties with storage heaters. They give 10 hours of storage and water heating at a cheaper rate. This is split into three periods during the afternoon, evening and night.
The Heatwise part sits alongside the standard meter. Electricity used for heating/water during the Heatwise times is charged at the afternoon and night/evening rates in your post.
Electricity used for anything other than storage and water heating, or outside of the Heatwise times, is charged through the standard meter. This will be at the primary and secondary rates in your post.
The Heatwise part will be wired into your heating/water circuits. Therefore, the tariff you are on is the only one available for this type of metering set up.
It is possible to remove the Heatwise part so you are left with the standard meter and, therefore, eligible for other tariffs. However, I would advise caution before doing this.
As I said above, Heatwise is wired into your system and removing it may cause problems with your water/heating. I strongly recommend you have an approved electrician check this out before going down this route.
There is also a charge of £50 for doing this work.
Setting up a Monthly Direct Debit will give you extra discount as per my previous post. Consequently, the prices quoted will be reduced by the either 6 or 8 per cent.
Hope this answers your questions Steve. Give me a shout if I can help further as will be happy to do so.
