But is the "Free" travel insurance as good as the "Normal" type travel insurance?.
the "Free" ones often come with snags. An how will they enforce the "Using it as their main a/c bit"? does this meant if I dont have any payments in/out (i dont) I will not qualify?0 -
Just to be aware, unless you joined before November 1997 and have kept your either savings/FlexAccount open without a break, then you have to give money to charity - see here.to classify as a member you must either be depositing or borrowing £100 however, I don't think this applies to borrowing on a credit card, so your best option is to dump £100 in one of their savings accounts. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. How many of you didn't vote to De-Mutulise when you had the chance a few years ago?0

'From 1 November 2010, the Society will be making some additional changes to its current account including the introduction of a low charge for transactions in currencies other than sterling. This replaces the 1% third party foreign currency charge for point of sale transactions made outside of the Visa European region'0

It seems fairly clear. The press release says they are making a 2% charge for transactions in currencies other than sterling. The rider re 'outside European region' is just clarifying that the 2% isn't in addition to the 1%, but in place of it.
I find your post equally ambiguous. are you saying the 2% applies to ALL non-sterling transactions regardless of country or are you saying it applies to non-sterling transactions outside of the EU.0 -
Bring on the carpetbaggers, I say. Nationwide now offers absolutely nothing to it's members that isn't available elsewhere.
They should seriously reconsider this move. I've already complained via email.
I see that the Guardian covered it yesterday as well (fromnt page of Money section).0 -

500 people... not a massively high target and would certainly force them to listen.0 -

It is clear that all transactions in currencies other than sterling will have a 2% charge. In addition there will be a £1 charge for each ATM withdrawal abroad. The statement has plenty of weasel words, but it is not ambiguous. There are better alternatives if you want to make ATM withdrawals in Spain from 1 November. The most widely available is Santander, but you will have to pay £1,000 per month into the account and to use a Santander ATM in Spain.0
