Well I am totally disillushioned with the response and will be acyively seeking a new current account after my Europen holiday later in the month, which on principle, I will now be taking money out on a more regular basis using smaller amounts, so that will cost them more!!

Oooohhhh, what a good idea, think I will follow suit next month :)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Clearly the Nationwide is not behaving like a true mutual, run by members for members.

Should we be organising some candidates to stand for election next year to get the current management kicked out?

Sadly I do believe we should be doing this. My suspicion is that Beale and the other 'wide boys are gearing NW up for demutualisation, and getting all the cutbacks out of the way first rather than cutback after floating and then have cutbacks blamed on being a bank.

So if they are going to demutualise, I think it would be great to kick Beale out first so that he receives no personal benefit. And you never know, the new candidate may be able to halt it.

With so many members in NW I think proceeds from a float would be quite small anyway... not worth saving in its current form (which again could be part of Beale's plan), but without Beale, who knows ...?

    The reason that I never chose to move my main banking to the Nationwide was because;

    1) They have yet to fully implement Faster Payments.

    2) They chose to use those Mickey Mouse Card Readers.

My main bank is HSBC, they have had full Faster Payments for ages and they manage to function without the need for Card Readers.

So Nationwide, don't blame me for staying with HSBC.;)

Petition here. Lets see how many names we can get.
  • My flexaccount statement arrived today, no mention of change anywhere.

There were, however, lots of flyers enclosed for credit card, insurance and loans.

    As if

then there's no way that the notification is going to be enclosed with statements as that would be after Sept 1 which would then make it impossible to perform the change on Nov 1 per the terms of the account

    well, here's the possibilities

    1) as it's early in the month they might still get them out in time

    2) they're planning a full or partial U-turn and are going to revise it.

    3) they're postponing the date for introducing the charges

They'll probably post them out seperately wasting yet more money in addition to the money they're going to spend dealing with complaints. Gotta love thier style. Maybe they could get some PR advice from that chap at BP. Think he's left now so he'll be ready for a new challenge...

In the words of the great prophet "I couldn't give a rat's a.."!
My accounts (Note the plural 's) will be moved out of Nationwide to a competitor offering me a better service and interest rates.
I will also not be returning to them even if they reversed there decision, 'once bitten twice shy' and if you are living in hope for that then in simple words 'Forget it, it will not happen' the decision has been made to offload 1.4 MILLION members who just use their Flex Account/Debit Card for 2 weeks a year when they go on holiday in Europe.

Sadly the 'Man in the Ivory Tower' at Nationwide did not think about the bigger picture or possible impact upon the "Good 12 month Customers" so 'as he sowed now shall he reap'

I hope he enjoys the fruits of his very limited vision!

Is there a minimum one needs in Nationwide to get a vote?
