I'm surprised a £130k property isn't considered as asset tbh, especially if owned outright with no mortgage?

It's all wrong if that is the case...legal or not!

I think that this is the root of the problem An owner occupied house is not considered an asset. A property left to someone will be eventually considered as an asset but for there is a period of time allowed for this to be sold - off the top of my head is 6months (but perhaps someone can clarify this).

Oh ok, that's sounds more reasonable...although I'm not sure 6 months is long enough at the moment!! :o

You can sell a property in 6 days at the right price and it sounds like there shouldn't be any reason why the friend couldn't drop it to this level.
