It will work with some plywood from B & Q and a carpet gripper, my husband has done this in most rooms to bring up the height of the floor to make it flush with the carpeted rooms. Cheaper too.0 -

No it's a feather edge to 6mm and upwards to catch the higher level of a floor. It will work with some plywood from B & Q and a carpet gripper, my husband has done this in most rooms to bring up the height of the floor to make it flush with the carpeted rooms. Cheaper too.
4mm being the thinnest ply available would grin through a carpet in time.0 -

You're possibly right there. But as I replace the carpeted rooms every 3/4 years (I only have carpet in two rooms of house), then I don't think it will be a problem. The carpets are currently 2.5 years old and no signs of wear because of the plywood yet, but I have taken notice of your comments.
OP, best to go with Shimeasy if you are planning to have your carpet for a length of time.0 -

Yes, it would also depend on the quality of underlay and the traffic.0
