Hi - just wanted a few people's opinion on this!!
We bought a 2005 Ford Focus Zetec Climate 6mths ago from a main dealer for £5000 with 57000 miles on the clock.
We previously had a Megane dci and have noticed a huge difference in fuel costs and are now putting £50 wk into the focus!
We really want to go back to a diesel Renault and fancy a Scenic as we have 2 young children. After trawling garages this week, we have been offered around 3000-3500 for the focus against a few scenics but it ends up that we have to swap the car plus around £1000 for a Scenic of similar age and mileage to the focus.
A local garage has a 2004 Scenic 1.9 dci dynamique with 70k miles on the clock for £3999 and he has offered to swap the cars plus £100 so effectively giving £3899 for the focus.
I do have the focus listed on ebay at the mo and have reduced the price to £4450 but still only have one watcher and it has 18days left to run.
Do we bite the bullet and swap for the scenic and probably save ourselves approx £20 wk in fuel or wait til the ebay listing ends to see if we can get a bit more for the focus?
My head is spinning with it all!!!

You'll get 50mpg on the motorway (at 56mph), and 40mpg from combined driving.
According to Renault specs, the car you are looking at will return an extra 5mpg around town, but you will lose 3mpg on the motorway when compared to the Focus.
The 2 litre dCi does slightly better on fuel consumption over the 1.9, and also offers extra horsepower & torque.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -
The car tells me that our Average MPG is 33.4 so I assume that is for the driving we do? When we had a Megane 1.5 dci we were getting approx 52mpg? I dont know if there is something wrong with our focus but the petrol just drains!0

I would also ignore the trip computer where fuel consumption is concerned, as whatever figures it gives are simply an estimate.
If you want to know exactly what your car is returning, brim fill the tank, zero the trip counter, drive for (say) 100 miles, then brim fill it again and take a note of how many litres you used for the second fill up and then do the math from the trip counter reading.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0
