npower - special offer (!?)

I had a phone call the other day from npower - I used to be a customer until I switched about a year ago to edf. The guy from npower told me that I would get rewarded by £100 if I returned to them. On top of that, I'd get £100 disc. for d/debit and cheaper fuel, etc, etc. blah blah. I explained that I would be liable to edf for payment of £50 for transferring to another supplier. He was obviously reading from the script, but was rather pushy ("ehy wouldn't you want to save money" and insistent that I would still be better off by around £200 a year (!). I toyed with him a little, and eventually said "yea, sure, I'll switch" (out of curiosity & knowing I'd have at least 7 days to cancel). Anyway, I got the paperwork this morning - guess what - no mention of this £100 discount for a returning customer and the rates he gave me on the phone were different from those on the contract (lower on the contract!). I've done comparisons with both energyhelpline.com and moneysupermarket.com - both state that I would be worse off with npower by around £30 a year. Needless to say, a letter of cancellation will be going off today.
Thought y'all would like to know!

Npower representatives telling lies or giving out factually incorrect information?

    Surely not! ;)

You presumably left them for a reason in the first place, so I say never go back! :)
