HELP - is my Toshiba L300 dead?

Really really need help (thanks in advance everyone).
I have a Toshiba Satelite L300 running in Windows Vista Home Premium
It was running fine last night but when I went to trun it on this morning it is doing the following:
HELP
We have looked at solutions (via google on my sons laptop) but they all say that you need to do things via the controll panel or download things from the internet which we are unable to do on the Toshiba.
I am so not a techie person and beginning to pull my hair out over this and so appreciate any advice that you good people may be able to offer.

- on turning on the laptop a dark blue screen appears which then keeps flashing
- when desktop eventually loads I get the following messages
- ConfigFree (TM) Task Tray menue has stopped working
- Toshiba power Saver has stopped working
- Toshiba Flash Cards has stopped working
- Skype has stopped working
- Windows live Messenger has stopped working
- Vista Registration has stopped working
- ConfigFree has stopped working
HELP

i assume you've restarted it a couple of times? get the same result each time?Friendly greeting!0

sounds indeed like you may have a virus, these can often disable your ability to open control panel...
you'll need to run malwarebytes anti-malware (if you can!) at a minimum I would suggest (its free)Friendly greeting!0 -
Yep, restarted it about a dozen times. I have just taken the battery out as the battery holds no power what so ever (the lap top has already been in for repair because of this) and it has done a scan check which it wasn't doing before. At the moment it is rebooting and the first dark blue screen has stopped flashing, so waiting to see what happens next!:j0
