Using cyberlink to play video on the hard disk

Hi,

I would like to use Cyberlink Power DVD to watch some .avi files that are on my hard disk. The problem is that the program only seems to look for media on the DVD drive. Is there any way round this?

I believe the PowerDVD menus has a button you can click on which allows you to browse for the file. Offhand not sure which one it is. Alternatively can right click on the file and choose open-with PowerDVD

Can I ask why aren't you using Windows Media Player, WMP can play .AVI files, if it needs the codecs you can download the Windows Media Player essentials codec pack and play them all day long....

Its been a basic feature for ages, on version 8 its here and also has the shortcut "Ctrl + O"



Just need to find it in whatever version you're using, alternatively right click on the file you want to play and select "open with" then tell it to open with powerDVD

Just get VLC player, it plays every video file known to man, its free and it doesn't fill your hard drive with cr*p.

Thank you for all the helpful suggestions.

And yes, Windows Media Player works but I feel that picture and sound quality are higher with Power DVD.
