I would want them microchipped and would also want them to come with relevant paper work including vaccinations. Not just photocopies of things with different addresses on them and being told to trust them.

Hi I can't help with all of your queries but fyi - I have a 16 week old pedigree pup (not a lab), and ours was up to date with worming etc, and was microchipped, but the first set of vaccinations (@ 8 weeks) and the second set (@ 10 weeks) were our responsibility. We were able to visit the pups at 4 weeks, 7 weeks (when we chose him) and again at 8 weeks when we collected him. We signed a contract, and were given a receipt, change of ownership documents were completed together, and kennel club documents and were given 4 weeks free pet insurance and food for the first 2 days.

It might be a good idea to find a breeder first, that you like and trust and who will talk to you about their animals, let you meet them etc., when you are satisfied that they are good breeders, then ask to go on a "list" for the next litter.

    regards
    Jo

Can the OP please confirm they will report the breeder. If you unwilling to do so, please pm any of us with their details and we can do it.

If it was a "painful experience" for you, imagine what its like for that dog.

I too was wondering where OP had got to, but it's the hols hethmar.
Let us hope OP in the quest for a Lab Pup, OP heeds advice from someone suggesting Gundog stock.
I think that is great advice.
