Stuff to do in Weymouth area

Well, it's holiday time again so I was wondering if anybody has any must see/must do things in the Weymouth area.
There will be me, my 3 younger sibling (2x 13yo and 15yo) and then my parents. Doesn't have to suit all needs but didn't know if anyone can recommend anything.
Thanks in advance

There's Monkey world ( as seen on tv) in nearby Wareham..
Portland bill has great views and the kids can climb up and down all the different rocks, ( away from the waters edge) we spent over a good hour one evening last month wandering around in the glorious sunshine, got some great pics, go can also go up the light house, there is also Portland castle to look around.
Charmouth beach is good for fossil hunting, we always managed to find some when we have visited.
We went on a boat trip from Weymouth to Portland and back which was good fun, even the very "bored" 16 yr old enjoyed it.
You have Brewers quay In Weymouth itself - Amid the labyrinth of paved courtyards and cobbled streets and around every corner you will discover arts, crafts and specialist shops. , sharkeys play area.
There is a sealife life centre along the seafront, next to it is crazy golf and other atrractions and also a brewers fayre, so you could spend a day visiting the various bits and pieces and have lunch there and just park in one spot.
Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove - Take a walk along the breathtaking coastline
Abbotsbury Sub-Tropical Gardens and swannery
Hope that gives you some idea's0 -
The beach is fantastic, take a trip up the Preston Road and their is a Sealife centre and some other things. Further on their is Bowleze Cove which is beautiful.
The Quay side museum is worth a look and if you get the bus, it's a short ride to Portland castle/museum and of course you can go up to the lighthouse if you want.
As well as Monkey World you have the Tank Museum.
Have you had a look at the Tourist board website?Depression is well Depressing. So I go shopping. Then I realise how much debt I'm in. Then my depression hits low and so I go shopping...0 -
Thanks, they all seem like great things to do!

I'll jot them down so that we all have some ideas.
I've had a look on a few websites but there's not much and it's best to hear from people who've been there. Thank you all!

Just to add you have makerel fishing trips and speed boat rides from the harbour quay.
Not forgeting you can also take a day trip to Guernsey and Jersey, though it is an extremely long day.
Down in West Bay you have cliff-top walks, fishing trips, and a fun fair. Further down on the way to Charmouth you had Moores Biscuit Factory, then further on from Charmouth you have Lyme Regis, and then further down to Seaton to ride on the trams.0 -
I love weymouth lots to do all the typical fair ground rides and beach. But I would avoid monkey world, I went lats August and it was packed and as dull as it comes, 200 odd ppl waiting and watching for a monkey to move not my cup of tea at all.
The coast line is fab and Dorest has lots to offer for a nice family holiday!Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0 -
My children all enjoyed going to the Nothe fort which is in Weymouth. http://www.nothefort.org.uk/ (Good photo of the fort). As they say on their website you don't need to be a militaty enthusiast and they have "mice" hidden about the building for younger children to find and count. If you take a picnic you can eat in the grounds.0

Thanks to all for your suggestions, had a brilliant time.
One wet and windy night scared us a bit in the tent but it was brilliant, sunny basically all the time other than that!

We have always eaten at the Brewers fayre which is along the sea front by the sea life centre at the Lodmoor Park..Some people say they don't like it but in the 11 years or so that we have been going we have had no real complaints and go back each year. There is also a good place in the town of which i cant remember the name of ( it used to be the wimpy if you have been to Weymouth before) Its the opposite side to the harbour side of the town, near to LLoyds bank0
