Ripped off by SimplySwitch.com

Options
I clicked a link on this site about saving money on gas and electricity suppliers.
It was with Eon and was on Simplyswitch.com.
I was promised £35 worth of John Lewis Vouchers but I never received them.

Simply switch have not been helpful at all and are refusing to send me them.
They have been paid commission from Eon.
This must have happened to other people.
I just wanted to warn people that on even this site you can be ripped off by companies that it recommends.

Eon said this..
I am sorry to hear you have not received your vouchers offered by SimplySwitch when you transferred over to us. Unfortunately this promotion was not offered by E.ON, this is a third party promotion which was offered by the website you went through to start your transfer to us.

I understand your concerns as you have advised you clicked the box to get the vouchers, however as this was not our website or our promotion we are unable to arrange for your vouchers to be sent.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us on 0845 059 9905 and one of my colleagues will be happy to help.

Kind regards

Got £30 back from this site for switching to British gas. :D Had to wait 4 months for it though. perhaps if you give it a bit longer. Can't see you being ripped of by this site.

It often takes many months for vouchers to come through.

There may be a particular reason for the vouchers not turning up at the moment, as it is also affecting John Lewis Credit Card holders, who receive vouchers based on the spend on their credit card

The company who prints their gift vouchers went bust in June, so there are currently no vouchers available to send out to anyone.

I suspect this may be why Simplyswitch haven't sent them out yet.

Also, verification of commission-based clickthroughs sometimes takes months, just like it does with Quidco/Topcashback etc.

Incidentally, you would have got £55 cashback if you had switched to E.On via Quidco or Topcashback.

The general rule of thumb is NEVER buy anything by clicking through a price comparison site, because they will cream off most if not all of the commsission you could otherwise get.

Thank you for your replies and the good advice.I will follow it next time.
I have been ripped off they are not sending me the vouchers.
They said that I had not clicked the link and I did.

Also that the offer wasn't on and it was because it ends today.

That it had to be claimed within 60 days but you wouldn't get it for 3 months.
I waited and didn't complain thinking they were on the way now they are saying the 60 days are passed.
They have all my details and even Eon say I should have got them but cannot force them to honour the offer.

I switched to Scottish Power a couple of months ago with Simply Switch using the MSE link. I emailed them yesterday to ask about my vouchers and like you, was told I hadn't used the MSE link so wasn't entitled to them. I'd never even heard of them before using the MSE link so why would I go direct to their website, which is what they say I did? I'm disgusted with them.
