CCCS or Payplan

Hello, Im a long time lurker trying to sort out our debts - have been trying to make payments to all of our creditors and just dont seem to have enough money by far each month even though myself and DH constantly working overtime and never see each other :(

After looking at the threads on here I think our best option is going to be a DMP as I cant realistically seeing them getting cleared any other way as we are just paying interest and charges every month

I would love a bit of advice from people that have started the process as to which service is the easiest/best to use - CCCS or Payplan?? I want to make the right decision so we can start moving forward and try and get our lives back and start to sleep at night!!!

Thank you x

I have commented in the SOA. Do you bank with natwest? If, so I would immediately apply for another bank account to pay salary into, if Natwest find out about your financial difficulties they can and do take your salary without warning to repay Natwest Debt, and it is perfectly legal. It is called setting off, Martin has an article about it, I will find it and post the link.

Well done for posting, you do need help from a debt charity, I would personally recommend the CCCS, I have heard very good things about them.

  • i am no expert i am just a ordinary guy trying to clear debts .i have noticed you have 2 children and benefit totalying 134.8 pounds if this is child benefit, then you may be entiled to child tax credits if you are bringing in joint wage of 2400 a month which is 28800 a year cut off for child tax credits is i think 40000 a year if you cut the overtime back you could be entitled to more child tax credits and spend more family time together but you will have to click the link on martins web site and do a benefits checkup just an idea i am a newbe but have been looking at the forum for ages and have joined now the banks have really got my goat up and there are some really helpfull and wise people on this site

Hi, I'm with Payplan and have been for over 4 years now and they have been great. From my experiences on here I would say that both are equally held in fairly high regard by the creditors. I would say IMHO that CCCS are probably stricter when it comes to accepting people for DMPs/IVAs and Payplan are probably more flexible when it comes to circumstance change. Whomever you choose, good luck and keep posting on here. This place really did change my life.

I'm with CCCS and they have helped me enormously. Some people like CCCS, some like PP so it's entirely up to you as to who you feel most comfortable with. In the mean time, check out the CCCS website and do their debt remedy on line and that will give you a starting point as to the best way forward for you. Good luck. It does get easier, honest and you've made the first step by recognising your debts and wanting to deal with them.

  • With 2 children you should be getting the basic child tax credit which is about £39 every 4 weeks.

I'm about to start a DMP with CCCS.. i can only tell you my experiance which is so far they have been really helpful.
  • thank you for all your feedback so far, already i dont feel so alone and at a dead end

I have got internet but it is included in the £11 we pay for phone - it is with Sky on the free internet with phone line package, we used to have the full package but cancelled it all quite a while ago now

We will start to get some child tax credits in September, just the minimum £40 odd pounds, but I was made redundant last year and for the few months that I wasnt working they overpaid us so since last year we havent been getting anything from them

I think the first couple of things i need to do is get us a basis bank account away from Natwest and fill in either payplan/cccs form, still unsure which but I will have a proper look at websites

if i think about it in small steps then i dont think it will seem so unmanageable, i hope

with payplan, we had to change bank accounts because we had debt relating to rbs, we went with yorkshire, as it is on own, but we had too get only a basic account, because of the problems with banks, no cheque, cash card, direct debits etc. It was hard at first, but it got easier to manage well its the case of having too, oh and no overdrafts. Payplan was very good, they did make it easy for us, facing the creditors, cccs is ok, but that is through the CAB, they wanted us to go to them, they would make creditors accpt very low payments as a £5 aweek, but we would be forever paying it, So l am glad to get to payplan. it has been a big learning curve, borrowing over draft, credit cards is like using other peoples money, with lots of interest, best of luck, you will be doing a budject sheet with payplan, then what is left,
they pay creditors pro rata. This is a budject guidence from payplan, hope you can read it, hugs linda good luck xx
not all of it, would be used etc according to your needs, what they are aiming for, is paying all bills which by law council tax etc. house hold mortgage, uitilities, food, a month, they pay four weekly, so payments will 13 over the year. What is surplus will go to each creditor in a pro-rata, also they will ask for insurance which works out at ten pound for two people, it good insurance it well covers your debts with extra, it is only while the debt plan in force it closes after debts paid.. some of these amount can increase, like limit on electric bill, we tell them what we pay monthly on direct debit. telephone, etc. we give them, figure which with virgin media, we broke down in bits. so the thing is adaptable. food bill, if you add up each person in house hold you find that the allowance is good.
couple and two teenage children is £495.00 but l could be adding up wrong etc..
