Gaggenau Gas Hob Repair

Hi guys,

I don't know the best place to put this, or even if there is a place to post this. My apologies if this in the wrong section.

My parents had a Gaggenau Gas Hob fitted about 5-6 years ago. 4 burners, 2 on the left and 2 on the right.

After 6 months or so, the 2 burners on the right side didn't work properly. As soon as you put a pan/pot on the flame, there would be a 'beep' and the flame would cut out (i.e. no gas supply). We would 're-ignite' the burner and it would be ok. Sometimes it would not re-ignite for hours.

I called BSH appliance care - who look after repairs for Gaggenau - and was quoted something like £90+ VAT for half an hour call out charge. Blimey

My dad is pretty good with problem solving and is very confident is a small issue but frustratingly he cannot do it. Also, we had the same problem in the first 6 months and the engineer who came out to fix it, took about 20 mins (max) to do it.

I had a look online for local repairers and a lot of them only do electric cookers not gas; they seem to be 'cowboys' or don't mention Gaggenau in their "brands we can do".

I will still call a couple of them. Is this my only option?

Thank you,

Sonny

    Hi Sonny

Don't worry you are in the right place.

As you probably know Gaggenau is at the very top of all the domestic appliance brands, you could say 'The Rolls Royce' of appliances. You may find an independent service man that can do Gaggenau but really I would recommend that you stick to BSH Appliance Care as they are the manufacturer's service devision.

    Hope you get it sorted.

BSH Appliance Care are absolutely useless. Charges us £162 for something that my dad already tried (replacing 1 wire) , which took about 20 mins.

Said it will run fine. We told him it will not and we will end up calling someone back. Didn't bother listening.

Stopped working, as we knew it would.
    Absolute joke of a company.

Complained and called engineer in again. Says we will prob end up having to replace the control board for another £200 + Labour charges of something craxy like £1 a minute.

As far as Gaggenau being a top-end company as one of the posters said, in my opinion this is partly down to design, quality of materials used. But as far as service or their outsourced service goes - they are not great, and prices are astronomical.

My parents are chefs for over 30 years and this is the first time they had any kitchen-related fault.
