Is it possible ??

To make a BT HomeHub work on a Sky Broadband line?

My 3 or 4 attempts says it is not...

It includes putting the broadband password & username onto the hub but I dont think the hub likes the skydsl or the sky broadband wants to fight the hub...

Its all getting very messy...

I think you can only use a BT Home Hub on a BT telephone line too.

But why would you want to use a HomeHub at all?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I'm happy I'm with virgin. I can use my own router easily and less busy peak times get my advertised download speed.
  • I agree with macman, why would you want to? The homehub is a terrible device. Most people I know that have one for BT Broadband have switched to a netgear or some such router as the homehub is just terrible.

I had a spare one & the sky router just continues to lose signal.

Which cheap netgear device would you recommend?

    Needs a good signal...

The most usual cause of wireless problems is having yours set to the same channel as another nearby one.

Check the local WiFi environment - http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider - and then set your own channel to a free one.

If that doesn't work, try a Netgear DG834G. Loads on eBay from about a tenner upwards.

  • Thanks guys

  • Again, I agree with macman, I use a Netgear DG834G v3 (v4 and v5 now available) and the wireless never drops out. I installed one in a mates house about 4 months ago who was usinig a homehub and having lots of trouble with it, and its been perfect ever since. Can't complain for a tenner.
