Confusion over debit and then a strange correction

Its a long story but today I needed £2000 in five pound notes. The only way I could do it was to get two seperate £1000 bundles from two brances in the same town. My details were checked stringently checked in the first branch and I.D. checked and security questions asked which was fine by me because personally I dont like the idea of then handing over that amout of cash just on a signing. In the next branch they basicaly checked my signature and gave it over, still fair enough I had been questioned for about five minutes and obviously showed no signs of being shifty.

I checked my statement online tonight to see that on the first transaction I drew out the cash but then it was corrected straight back into my account. I know I had the cash so whats going on?

Any ideas?

I can't really answer the question, but perhaps wait till after 3pm tonight i.e. tomorrow and check again, might just be a glitch on net banking.
  • I know they will find it without me having to say anything because at best the 'account' for that brach will be £1000 short and at worst the guy who served me will find his till £1000 down and an investigation will find it.
  • Looking further into it the account has the money 'reserved' so I take it the system has to refer it to a real person in order to approve the correction. this being the case I will prob then see it taken back out.
