grit in water when running a bath?

I have had a bath fitted with a monobloc tap by my son in law. I find that when I run a bath, I am getting what looks like sand/grit coming through with the water. The water supply is from a new(ish) electric heater. No other taps hot or cold in the house suffer with the problem and all are fed from the same water heater and all plumbing is on the same level. Anyone have any ideas on this?

  • He probably didnt cap off the existing hot & cold pipes when he was smashing stuff up & some of the debris has gone down the pipes.

    Hi,

Is the tap fitted with flexi tap connectors? How long are they?

there was no smashing up of any fitments or anything as this was originally a wetroom and I decided I wanted to put a bath in there instead, the water is taken off the existing plastic pipework that runs to the shower by a short flexihose and is between the shower unit and the electric water heater.

Is it a white chalk like in appearance? If it is it is just hard water deposits that can sometime comes loose from pipework.

no, not chalk like at all, more like sand in colour and texture and we live in a soft water area.
