Problems for 16 Year Old Working At JD Sports!

Its annoying to see a 16 year old that sounds very mature and willing to work hard and gets the runaround. Unfortunately there are a lot of immature people about and people that will try and take advantage of young people fresh out of school. It may have happened for the best. I hope you soon find another job and it all goes well for you in the future - all the best.0

At M&S they are taking on Xmas temps at the moment and the minimum amount of money they get is £5.60 an hour. This goes up to £5.80 after you have been trained and become 'qualified'.
The job is not guaranteed after Xmas though, the contracts are usually for 2-3 months so they can assess if you are worth keeping on.
Though if they are desperate they end up keeping on anyone!
Thanks everyone for replying once again.
I have now given in my cv to marks and spencer. They took me up to the office to say they didnt have any vacancies now, but they will be gettin xmas temps...so thanks ti1980! Whilst i was there, she asked me about how much i am getting paid, and when i told her she nearly fainted! (not really! lol!)< but she went on to say that my wage would be £5.80 and the manager likes having people that are studying at college (cos she has a child of her own).
So it looks like it is working out for me. Where would i be without MSE!?
I guess i will still be at JD for the next month - just to pay for my xbox 360 games! Ooohh....am looking forward!!
Once again....Thank You for all your replies!0 -
Hey Hun!!
Your doing great!! Im sure your have the 360 before you know it!
Very refreshing to see someone as young as you being so mature in working and studying. I hope my DD has the same attitude as you when she gets to 16....only 4 years to go:D
Well done!

A young friend of mine works for JD and they have constantly got her wages wrong. On one occasion she worked a month and took home less than £450!
They take the !!!!!! over her hours and the manager is a bully. Sadly, she spent ages looking for a job and can't leave until she finds another job.0 -
I work for BHS, I'm 18 but at the time was 17 and got £3.75/h. My hours meant that I very seldom saw my DM or the Admin manager. I left my P45/6 (whatever it is they gave me when I left, I was a Christmas temp before but was offered a job in spring) and they managed to lose it for a week and I ended up paying £22.44 emergency tax.
This thread just reminded me to phone up about it but the office is closed
But I'll get them on Monday0 -

This happened to a colleague of mine so now she writes down her hours she works each day in a diary. It's actually worked and she's used it a few times to show the admin when she's been underpaid.
I highly advise it! It could save you a few quid!0 -

Definitely, I do the same because I'm paid (for example) weeks 28 to 32 contracted hours and 26 to 30 hours overtime in one month. So because of the arrears, mistakes are often made. Make sure you're signing T&A sheets tooNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Can recommend Boots as an employer - started work for them the week I turned 16, and stayed with them for a couple of years while I was still at school. Pay's not great, but they give you a really good discount, which comes in handy at Christmas (if you've got a big Boots near you you'll know they sell loads of present-y type stuff).
I think, if I were you, I'd write off that £19, put it down to "experience", leave your job at JD Sports and start anew elsewhere. Plus £3ph is really pants - I get paid more to babysit!0
