You CAN claim back NI overpayments, they keep this fact well hidden
Are there any accountants here? They know how to do it.
I'll try to find a link later.Bulletproof0 -
By the way, what should i do about the N.I., i was charged about £19 on £250, clearly not my fault?
NI is calcualted on a weekly rather a yearly basis like tax, on £250 (you pay 11% NI on all weekly earnings over £97) , your £19 NI is approx right - theres nothing to complain about as its been calculated correctly.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -

I think what Daniel is saying though is that if he had been paid weekly as he should have been he wouldn't have fallen into NI at all so has paid £19 because of the mistake by JD Sports in sorting out his pay.0 -
What about waitrose, if theres one near you, the staff are sort of shareholders and you have the chance to rise up throuhg the ranks? I've heard they are very good employers.0

Yes, thats right. I would have been earning under the £84 a week, so paying the N.I. was a shock to me (as they are only paying me £3.00 an hour). I have spoken to NI, and they have told me that i need to claim it off of JD, meaning they will pay a little less NI next year (which is good advice) - thanks for the link though!
Today is my day off from college, so am looking for a job. There is no Waitrose here, but there is a Marks&Spencer which i am looking to apply for.
I am not too bothered about the fact that my supervisor is talking behind my back, because if i was there, i know she wouldnt say it to me.
But thanks for all your responses. I understand that this will happen later in life, so see this experience as a practise to my adulthood (lol!).
Thanks
