Holiday insurance - how long to settle?

Browsed back through this forum and couldn't find much.
Had a gutting 24 hours with my little one breaking out with Chicken pox and due to fly to a weeks all inclusive holiday today (saved up for 2 years!! special occasion!)
Have sent my insurance co required documents, doctor's note etc today - just wondering how long is normal to pay on a straightforward case - just wondering if we can rebook something before schools go back?

Thanks
Jo

I suppose it depends on the insurer. I was with Insure & Go and it took them several months. There was no reason for the delay and I chased them frequently. I think the file just sat in a pile on someone's desk and it took them ages to actually do it. Good luck with your claim!

Thanks for the reply. I know I am living in a dream land if I think I will have my claim settled within a couple of weeks really...

Well if it is an open & shut case shouldn't take to long - give it a week & chase .... did you send "signed for"?

Yes it was signed for, emailed them and they said payment 5-6 days after claim was approved. Which is a bit useless if you don't know how how long it will be to have it approved!!
Does ringing a lot annoy them or speed thing up?

I don't think they do anything unless they are nagged. So I reckon chase them...

Just to update in case anyone searches the forum with a similar problem in future - we received the payout yesterday, not too long to wait after all ( a couple of chasing phone calls!)
Sadly we couldn't find a holiday at this late stage so will save the money for half term - packing the tent for next week instead!
