i was reading a thread somewhere (can't remember where) saying that if you have an oyster card and a disabled railcard, you can couple the two and it sets the cap limit lower?
i actually am entitled to a freedom pass, but my council insist that you are only allowed either a blue badge or a freedom pass!

Apparently, it does. Yet, I was still paying the full oyster fare - despite being told that my railcard was on there.

Nevr heard that about the fredom pass and blue badge. I thought it was the only the taxi tokens and freedom pss you couldn't get if you had severe walking difficulties.

Don't know about the freedom pass & blue badge but tube station staff do as I've heard them talking about it also the local library will have info on it. As for the oyster card I agree totally with the previous comments I had mine changed to the lower tariff but it was not cheaper if anything I seemed to use the credit up quicker.I took it to be checked but was told it had been done ;) mind you when I tried to get the kids pay a pound anywhere ticket some would give it and others would say no you can't as you have a discounted card which then cost £4 odd for 3 children so wished I hadn't bothered! Sorry cant give a more useful answer good luck :)

until 6 years ago i lived in london. in my borough you could only get the freedom pass if you got lrm....if you got hrm they deemed you too disabled to use public transport and allowed you to use dia a ride and have a blue badge instead.
someone on these forums more or less called me a liar for saying this a while ago!

I live in London (Camden) and get Taxicard, Freedom pass and blue badge. All paid for by profits from parking fines apparently.....so my council tax is not being wasted on those pesky disabled folk ;).
Just in case you were wondering (some have)..... I'm a woman!

Talk about generalising! (them; not you) What happened if you were on lrm but entitled to a blue badge?

I had the same problem. I have no use for a blue badge as I don't have a car and can't drive for medical reasons. Most of the time I'm pretty much housebound but occasionally on very good days I can go out and manage to use public transport. I had a lot of trouble persuading my council that I am well enough to be allowed a freedom pass. They wanted me to visit their office to prove that I am able to travel/walk/etc. and that I am not too disabled for this disabled pass. It all seemed very strange to me.

Ironically I haven't had a valid freedom pass since march as I haven't yet had a day since then when I have been well enough to get to the main post office to hand in the certificate they finally sent me and get my new pass for the year. It has to be done in person and not via a carer or post.
