We have the exact same problem. We have just sorted out a date for a builder/glazer to come in and make the bathroom window smaller, it really does work out a lot cheaper then the many options we considered (many have been suggested here). We even looked at getting a custom made screen but the cost of the window is the cheaper and simpler option.

Could you put the shower in the centre of the bath and have one of those circular shower curtains, they're quite nice :)

In our house, we have a shower cubicle that overhangs the window by about 8". Making the window smaller would look odd from the outside with all the other windows on the front of the house.

What was done, was to build a stud wall peice on the inside and so close in the shower and hang the door.

If you can imagine the windowcill about 8" deep, only the inside 3" is stud wall and so the window is still accessible to clean. It is all tiles inside and out and along the windowcill so actually looks okay. From the inside you don't really notice it and from the outside it looks fine as it is frosted glass anyway.

It would be a cheap alternative to getting the window bricked up and you can always go the whole hog later if need be.

So build a small stud wall up over part of the window!

another option could be a double ended bath, with a fold back shower screen.
that's what i did in my bathroom

its a novellini aurora 4 screen- ok, not terribly cheap to buy, but its really well made and gives a bid shower space over the bath, and solves the screen dilemma

Thank you for taking the time to do this... It looks really good! As you know I was a bit unsure about doing this but it's great to see how it would really look -

    ahhh thanks :)
i'm thrilled to bits with the bathroom, and still cant believe its really mine!! it was pretty bad before it got renovated last winter, and we did the tiling ourselves in the middle of the bad weather !! :p i wouldnt recommend that to anyone- defrosting a wet cutter and cutting tiles in snow, brrr:rotfl:

I discovered the screen by chance when shopping around for ideas in a local showroom, and just knew I had to have one! it has been worth every penny and is fab i think :D just depends whether your budget can stretch a bit :o

good luck whichever way you decide to go :)

Why do you have a statue of The Stig in your bathroom?
