Hi Everyone
just a quick question , i am at present with EDF
and on the gas bill it says :
" As your home is not directly connected to the National grid gas network , your gas charges will be subject to an additional daily charge"
which supplies don't charge for this or waiver it ?
cheers

If they waiver it,then they probably just factor it into the pricing structure somehow..?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

I that you possibly misunderstand. The charge (normally about £50 per year) relates to the extra that your gas supplier has to pay the company that owns the pipes from Transco's (or National Grid UK, as they are now known) main pipe in the street, the last 50 yards to your house. It generally applies to newish housing developments, as prior to about 15 years ago, Transco was the only company allowed to connect houses to the gas main.
This charge can be passed on in three ways -
1. The gas supplier makes an extra annual, quarterly or daily standing charge, on top of what they would charge anybody connected directly by Transco.
2. The gas supplier charges a different price for the gas to what they would charge anybody connected directly to Transco. Generally only for the first few thousand kWh, so you end up paying the same as in 1.
3. The gas supplier charges everyone the same price, irrespective of whether they are connected directly to Transco or one of the IGTs. So yes it is structured into the pricing structure, but you are not paying an extra £50 per year, your £50 is spread across the vast majority of Transco customers as well. So you could argue that you are still paying for it, but you are probably only paying an extra 1p or so on your gas bill, not £50.
SSE, Atlantic, Ebico, BG, and up until a couple of years ago EDF as well, are companies that fall in the 3rd group.0 -
Indeed..the whole area of IPGTs can be a minefield.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
