We're getting on quite well. However, it turns out the "new" top soil is in need of some love and attention as it's basically mostly clay. Councils!!

Anyway, having forked it all over I'm after manure. One local firm delivers a skip load (8 cubic metres) for £80.....don't seem to be able to find anything cheaper. Is this enough/too much for a 50 square meter plot?

Saving you some money why don't you think about green manure as this will also add fibre to the soil as well as nitrogen, which will help to break up the clay.

The cheapest I've found for the quantity can be found at https://www.TheGrassSeedStore.co.uk.

5kg of winter seed only costs £20

You will have to cut and fork over again in early spring, but much cheaper than £80 for farm manure.

    Good Luck :)
