How to make DVD from camcorder or camera?

Hiya

I have Sony's 30GB internal (fixed) Hard Drive Handycam (camcorder). I want to make the DVD of the videos I have shot using it. This handycam creates the video files in MPG format.

Now we can create the DVD directly from the handycam through its 'One Touch Burn' feature. But it makes the DVD for all the clips we have recorded. We don't have control over if we want to selectively choose the video clips we are interested in.

Does anyone know if they have created DVDs from Sony's handycam ? Also, are there any good softwares available which can create a DVDs from MPG files ?

Your suggestions/recommendations will be much appreciated.

Cheers

There's a program called DVD Flick that often gets recommended on this forum.

Can you copy the mpg from the camera to your PC?

You can use Windows Movie maker to edit your video and then, I think, that can burn a basic DVD.

I've not used WMm in ages so not too sure...

Don't, as WMM re-encodes the Video and you'll lose quality. As far as I could see WMM doesn't support MPEG-2, only WMV and DV. And at the end you will need another program to burn a Video-DVD anyway.

I downloaded DVD Flick and managed to create DVD from MPG files. Very simple interface and very easy to use. Highly recommended to all amateurs like me.

Finally, thanks to all other folks for your tips and advice.

The one touch burn feature is probably intentionally designed like that: to burn and record everything, i.e. hence the one touch, for convenience.

Although I haven't used this myself or if it is what you're looking for, but I've heard the Dazzle DVD Recorder is meant to be quite good, you can search it online and see what you find.
