Deep cleaning carpet tiles

I've just spent an enjoyable couple of hours out in the sunshine while 'karchering' the carpet tiles from my bedroom floor, which is about to be redecorated.
I can't believe how many shades lighter they are now that they've been properly cleaned and can only assume that the yarn from which they are made (polypropylene?) attracts and holds the dust since I do my fair share of housework and the place isn't a tip!
I first soaked them in an old Addis kitchen bin full of soapy water, then stood them upright on a garden bench and just blasted away. I even made a game of writing my initials in the dirt, and if hubby had been here, we could have played noughts and crosses. I've laid them out on the lawn to dry and hopefully will be able to put them down again tonight.
Now I'm off to have a cuppa and gloat over the money I didn't have to spend to get professional carpet folk in to do the job, as well as knowing that by siting the garden bench on the lawn, I've watered the grass at the same time.
Just my own experience but hopefully a useful tip for someone and even cheaper if you borrow the Power Washer from a friend or neighbour.
