Appliance plumbing connection

Hi,
is this the culprit,
going on to this?
Would've thought if connected properly should've been no problems, did you have your threads crossed, maybe the washer not seated properly?0 -
It would be simple enough to assemble a T connector out of compression fittings yourself. Using 15mm compression to 3/4" adaptors. If you are concerned about the plastic "Y" piece breaking.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Hi yes thats the setting i had and half an hour after fitting i heard this almighty loud hissing sound, looked under the sink to see water pouring out of the y piece connector and thats with no appliance turned on, so i turned the blue tap to off and disconnected the y piece and have not been able to use my washing machine for over a week till i find out what other fitting to buy,am sorely tempted to buy a self cutting tap.[Deleted User] wrote:Hi,

Hi how would i do this, bearing in mind i have no plumbing experience.I have no idea what a t connector, compression fittings or adaptors look like so would need a plumbing for dummies step by step guide.:)It would be simple enough to assemble a T connector out of compression fittings yourself. Hi,
well as I said, I think it was either cross threaded or the washer not seated properly, the thread on these things is pretty coarse, and if fitted properly shouldn't break.
Was there any damage to the y piece, had it split?0 -
A pipe has moved and loosened the connection, it is nothing to do with pressure as such on the y piece- it's not as if its split or anything!
You could use 15mm pipe clips to secure the plastic appliance pipes in a position that does not cause them to undo the y piece.0 -
No damage to y piece.[Deleted User] wrote:Hi,

Hi,
well you must've had it on wrong.
Start again, make sure the washer is properly seated, (eh, was the washer in the connection, or had it fallen out), when you screw it together the hose connection should screw well up the y piece, not just a couple of threads.0 -
Water pressure has nothing to do with whether the appliance is on or not. It really has no effect. (you do get some pressure pulses from some appliances/taps etc whicj CAN have an effect)
It sounds like you fitted it incorrectly, either cross threading the threads, or the fitting was placed under tension by the hose.
What I mean by the above, is that if the hoses were not easy to attach, or you were pulling them into position and they "just" fit, that can/will cause a problem.
Those plastic fittings are fine, if fitted correctly and left undisturbed (ie not knocked/pulled/banged etc.)
it is possible you got a dodgy one, but very unlikely, more likely is that the fitting of it was not done correctly.Unless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%0
