Yorkshire Bank - Don't lose your card

Just a warning and a bit of a rant, don't lose your card if you're with yorkshire bank if you can help it.
10 mins to cancel it and order a new one, i also had to re register for telephone banking.
The new card will take 5 working days, then they'll send a new pin number which will take another 5 working days.
"I don't need a new pin number" was my reply, "You've got to have one" was theres.
"So up to 10 working days to get access to my money again."
"yes thats correct but you could go into one of the branches to withdraw cash"
All very well but not that easy when you work 10 miles from the nearest branch and they're not open on saturdays.
Is this the same with every bank? Years ago when I banked with Halifax I'm sure I kept the same pin and the card came in a couple of days.

As I thought then, I've got another current account elsewhere think i'll start moving everything over. There doesn't seem any benefit in this , its 2010 , 10 days for a new working card and pin. Scandalous.0

I thought it was fairly standard to get a new PIN if you lose or have your card stolen. They only let you keep the same PIN if you have just broken the card.0

I think this is fairly standard tbh. The delay between sending the two bits out is for security - to make sure they don't both get intercepted.
And again, I think it is a security issue re the auto sending of the new pin.
Could be worse, our bank cancels BOTH cards on the jnt ac when one is lost - more than a tad irritating when you have a dh that regularly loses his wallet.0
