Colwyn Bay is in North Wales, roughly a four hour drive from Cardiff so there'll no doubt be lot's of pubs along the way.
The only pub I've eaten at in Mid Wales is Yr Hen Orsaf which is the Aberystwyth Wetherspoons. It's ok if you like Wetherspoons. The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
And I look like a tramp and tramps like us

Aye. I know where CB is.
Aberwystwyth is probably a bit too far west off my route.0 -
Rhayader has The crown, or the Lamb & Flag, both do excellent bar meals. The castle in Rhayader is slightly posher. Elan Valley Hotel is gorgous but your going up the money.
If your on the A483, half way between Llandrindod Wells and Newtown you have The New Inn at Llanbadarn, very friendly good food.
If your talking evening the Thai in Howey (just south of Llandrindod) is delicous, but not cheap, like wise the indian in Llandrindod... There were people waiting for a table on a Wednesday night:think:
Any way I hope that has given you a few ideas, I live just outside Llandrindod so know the area quite well:)Visit beautiful Mid Wales:j0 -
the griffin inn in Llyswen in nice
There is a great pub in the centre of welshpool but i can't think of it's name. It's the one just by the crossroads in the midddle of town if anyone can help.
Agree re the indian in llandod and the thai at howey
The indian in builth is also good
I also rate the greyhound in builth
The halt at doldowlod is lovely for meals too (open all day)
honey cafe in bronllys is lovely too - they do tex mex in the evening from 7pm (open all day)
check times tho as some places only cook between 12 and 2 for example0 -

It is but I have to say I really like Aberystwyth. It somehow sounds like it should be a bit dreary and depressing but it's not, it's actually quite a vibrant place which is probably down the University attracting lots of younger people to the town. The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
