Each time I switch on to Windows XP the computer starts a memory test. I can press Esc to stop but how do I stop this permanently? Thanks

You can't stop it, it is part of the POST (Power On Self Test) procedure.
If it is taking too long, you can change it to a "quick" test in the BIOS.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -
How do you do this? Not too complicated I hope!0

Press the relevant key (normally ESC, F2 or F10 depending on your machine) when prompted during the POST sequence to enter the BIOS and change the relevant entry.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0
