I had a letter this morning for my mum saying?

You recently have recieved a letter from department of work and pensions telling you that you're eligble for an £80 rebate from your electricity supplier .. You will find a voucher at the bottom of this letter which you can use to claim your £80 ..

Just take this letter with your Pension card to any post office before the 30th Nov 2010 and they will transfer the £80 credit on your prepayment key..

Anyone else had one of these letters yet? .. Whats the pension card? ..

i was talking to my mum about it she said cash it last min so it lasts over christmas and new year.. will come in very handy .. :)

This is the £80 all the main suppliers are giving to customers over the age of 70 and on Guaranteed Pension credit. They must also be responsible for the bill. The amount gets applied to the Electricity account.

This is the first time the DWP has shared information with Energy suppliers.

    Hi brogusblue

The Energy Rebate Scheme is a joint initiative involving most of the energy suppliers and the Government.

Basically, the suppliers and the Government work together to identify those people aged 70 and over who are most in need of support with their energy bills.

People who qualify will receive a one off rebate of £80 on their electricity bills for 2010 only.

As your mum has a prepayment meter, this rebate will need to be put on to her meter. If she takes the voucher she has received to any Post Office, the rebate will be put on her key.

This will then be transferred to her meter when she tops up. Please note, it may take several vends before the message is picked up.

Hope this explains the scheme brogusblue. Give me a shout if I can help further as will be happy to do so.

    Hi brogusblue

I've just spoken to the government department handling this scheme and they've told me the following.

You will be able to pick up the rebate on behalf of your mum provided you take along some ID. You will need ID for both you and your mum.

They tell me pension cards are no longer issued. Apparently, people now receive an annual entitlement letter. I'd take this as well.

Hope this helps brogusblue. As before, give me a shout if I can help further as will be happy to do so. :)
