Accidental Damage Claim

Hi

I have been battling for some time now with Halifax Insurance over an accidental damage claim in relation to my Home Contents insurance. They have employed every delaying tactic in the book and have put obstacles in place at every step of the claim process.
This is a totally genuine claim and is only the second contents insurance claim in the last 13 years.
It has suddenly occurred to me that the problem could be related to the fact that I owe money on a Halifax credit card and that the CAB have been negotiating a DMP on my behalf.
Would Halifax try to deny my insurance claim (policy premiums up to date) as I owe money to another part of their business ??

They shouldn't, however I would check your documents regarding their complaints process and follow it. If the complaint is not sorted out within 8 weeks then you can go to the ombudsman, the fact you are prepared to follow this process may speed things up, its sometimes amazing what a complaint can do.:)

What was the item that was damaged and the circumstances and have Halifax actually confirmed that the damage is covered under the terms of the policy?

If so, what are they citing as the reason for delaying the processing of the claim.

i have been in the claims business for over 33 years and to be honest have never come across a case where an insurer has deployed specific delaying tactics. It just feels that way i am sure. Respond to the request for more info and i am sure we can comment more?
