Renault Trafic - Knocking on Brake/Accelerate

Hi,

I have an 05 Renault Trafic. There is a knock coming from under the cab floor on sharp braking or accelerating.

Any idea what is the most likely cause of this?

Probably anti-roll bar bush or suspension joint.
  • Knocking,,, suspension bungs, anti roll bar,, or once on my car the control arms (the flexi joint built in was knackered).

I’ve just had similar on my Audi, the cause?

A half full 500ml bottle of coke rolling around under the passenger seat

  • thanks.

I run with the van empty nearly all the time (its a dog transporter rather than a work van). i noticed today that when i had two of my mates sitting in the passeger seat that the knock was not there so i think that narrows it down to a suspension related item, no?

it is most evident when accelerating up hill (from rest) or braking going down hill. It is not every time.

I'm getting the discs and pads replaced on monday so will ask them to have a look.

    Thanks.

  • disc and pads done. the mechanic said he heard the knock when he moved the van into the workshop before he changed the discs but couldn't hear it after he'd done them. And a second mechanic also took it for a test drive and couldn't hear anything.

As soon as i drove out of their yard and touched the brakes at the junction.... clunk!

    I'll try somewhere else! :p
