Have not posted all month due to laptop being broken, but have religiously kept all my receipts. Spend loads in first week of month then quite good during middle of month and now this last week going to be really tight. have £15 to last til next Tues when DH gets paid, August seems to be dragging. Have most evening meals covered just things like bread, milk, lunches and fruit so possibly can make it. Did reduce budget by £20 this month so wont be gutted if go over tiny bit.
August GC £215.42/£2300 -
I managed £15 for 2 adults this weekend! Went to Sainsburys at 9pm and stocked up on the reduced meat from the butcher counter, popped it all in the freezer and will do a lucky dip for dinner each night and make sure of what we've got in our store cupboards.
Belly of pork was £5 reduced to £1!!!

Popping in to update sig,
DD2 has gone to London for a week so OH and I are trying a challenge of not buying any grocery stuff for the week she is away.
We've managed so far since Thursday but I think I'm going to run out of eggs before the week is up. Will have to see how we get on.
I've cooked my last joint of beef out of the freezer today (bought 4 back in December when A$da had them on for £4 a kilo - 1 sliced for steak and 3 for roasting) so we have had a nice roast beef dinner and 6 more packs sliced in the freezer for future meals. Hope they do them again as I would love to do the same next year.
If we manage to keep mostly to our little challenge we will be under on the GC this month - so hope I can get there.0 -

Hippeechiq - When shopping through mysupermarket, you get Clubcard or Nectar points as usual. When you've done inputting your shopping to mysupermarket you choose which retailer you want to place the order with and are then automatically redirected to their site with your trolley. You then log in, book a delivery slot and pay as usual.
So sorry to hear about your freezer disaster, highland fling.
Bought more cold meds (the lurgy continues unabated) in ASDA and Boots today and a TV paper - sig updated.
I've earned £35 looking after my mother's neighbour's cat and am thinking I'll set it against doing a bigger shop this week to get a bit more stocked up with some of the bits I couldn't afford last week. It's a while since I shopped the whoopsies and my meat drawer in the freezer is starting to look a bit low.
Think tomorrow could be an NSD - here's hoping, anyway!Household: Laura + William-cat

HighlandFling how awful about your freezer hun :grouphug:What happens is you use my supermarket as your portal so you go through it to then sign into tesco on your own account so you still collect your clubcard points.notjustlaura wrote: »Hippeechiq - When shopping through mysupermarket, you get Clubcard or Nectar points as usual. going to try going through mysupermarket next time I have Tesco order. Have looked at site and 'moved' all my favourites. Was surprisingly easy.
Spent £5.20 on 4 icecreams! Expect to be slightly over this month as have grandsons staying for a week. Using Tesco vouchers for lots of very cheap/free outings. Fingers crossed everyone please for fine weather! I don't ask for hot or even warm but dry would be good.0 -
Last declaration was Tuesday as an NSD
Since then I've had Wed & Thur as NSDs, Fri as a spend day (though only £10.60 from my GC budget, which I was really pleased with as it included £5 on meals for DS to cook over the weekend - he'll only "self cater" while I'm at OH's if he has ready meals available, but I've only another couple of times to contend with this at the most before DS moves out for Uni), and Sat & Sun as NSDsCheryl0 -
Hippeechiq wrote: »I do my online shop at A$da, and I always check to see if there is a free delivery code before placing my order, and there never seems to be one. I get my shopping on the cheapest delivery day - either Tuesday or Wednesday - and it's £3.50. My car failed it's MOT in April, and I don't have the money to repair it or get a new one, so I have no choice but to get the bulky stuff delivered.
I prefer Mr A as well-. I registered for emails from them and they often send me an email saying they have put a free delivery code in my account-there are 2 at the moment. I think its cos I dont often shop online though to be fair-they are trying to keep me!
Make sure you are getting emails from them.
Well if you try code and search fro them-not a lot else you can do!
At least their delivery is cheaper than Mr T-along with everything else.
I also have an Asda credit card so if I order over £99 worth and charge it to my card I automatically get free delivery on ANY day.:j Must admit I've only done this twice. Delivery doesnt work too well for me lately as although I get all the items I need(less a few bits)it doesnt satisfy my shopping addiction and I still go out shopping! Shock ! Horror! It used to work for me a couple of years ago but no more. However-in the winter I will take advantage of it-February is my favourite month as long as I'm not snowed in-no van would get to me if I am.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
No spend day today so grand total this week of £40 spending including dh beer. This is the first ever at this low I am almost certain.:j:j
Did a lot of cooking today-didn't bother with Sunday lunch as nobody was interested.
Made a spicy mince and onion pie using minced beef onions butternut squash and carrots(but the pastry wouldnt do as it was told)half of that mix in a tub for savoury mince tomorrow.
Banana muffins from Mt T reduced bananas.
Twinks hobnobs-Ive always got at least a kilo of oats here.
Plum jam-that was a spur of the moment decision as the plum tree is bursting with ripe fruit. Freezer is only just closing so can't freeze them. Luckily theres a couple of loaves of bread in there but otherwise not a lot I can do. I think I could feed an army at the moment so although we don't have much money coming in I feel quite flush-but that is because I am not a spender!:j;)Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0
