  • I've been absent a while but I have been keeping records (more or lesss) From August though I am going to pull my socks up! I have to as DH hs now taken early retirement so I really must! So, our income is now halved-or less, DD is going to college in Sept but no EMA as it is based on 2009-2010 income which was above the limits. We will claim it next year though. Ive had no work for the summer but I will be working again most likely in September so it will boost it a little and meanwhile Ive started doing Avon round to earn free Xmas pressies and a few pounds too-as they say-every little helps!
Not had a holiday this summer so I am hoping to find a cheap getaway for October halfterm for me and 16 yr old dd-no idea yet what to look for-my hols are always surprises!
Goimg to tot up the rest of my rceipts now and hopefully add them to my post a little later tonight.

hi everyone and big hello to all the newbies

today i had my asda delivery and it came to £54.26 also i had free delivery so that was a bonus :j Shouldnt need anything else now till next week and will resist the temptation of the supermarkets :rotfl:
I will lose 2 stone by this summer!!!!!!
  • Ouch! Ive just done my calculations and due to 3 months overspending I now need to aim for just £419.51 per month! Not sure if its possible or not. July included some daytrips which added about £100 plus of course extra petrol. I do have a "house full" of food though so if I can stay away from the shops I may manage it. Having central heating installed in September so that should actually reduce our bills this year as we were using electric fires to supplement a very ancient(40 yr old) warm air central heating system which always left us cold. Separate budget for that-it was allowed for a few years ago but didn't happen.

Please put me down for 350 this month.

    My spends so far:
    • 25.30 Iceland
    • 76.43 Asda
    • 3.46 Tesco = 105.19  however I have stocked up on cereals, flour, freezer stuff, dog food and toiletries so am quietly confident.
Thanks for the thread, Kalojac x
  • i'm back and its not all bad TOTAL SPENDS IN JULY £191.34 an overspend of £91.34p ouch after checking receipts and ajusting for a couple of items that are not food and some item i've bought but we have not used yet that comes to just over £30.00 so £60.00 over if we put not used items over to August.I WILL ADD TO TOTAL AT END OF AUGUST IF THEY GET USED I HOPE THEY DO I've set my August target at £120.00 although i'm not sure at this point if its too low as long as i end August with a total lower than July i'll know i'm on the right track take it step by step have to start some where and if i hadnt joined July gc who knows how much i might of spent this is my chance to get sorted before xmas i've also got to decide do i do my xmas box or just stick to gc i do an xmas box/cupboard mainly because a food hamper isn't suitable for us so i do our own i suppose i could put any food items not used each month into this box and maybe saving card with value of chilled ,frozen and or a big x on frozen and keep in seperate draw got big upright freezer can't decide but always end up wishing i had more in at winter time cos of bad weather and i always end up full of cold and get bad cough so don't feel like shopping whatever happens it will be good because of all the ideas on here GOOD LUCK FOR THIS MONTH TO ALL OF US

    Morning

I know I've picked the wrong month to try and be frugal but here goes...

T*sco sent me an email saying that if I order 3 x £50 online shops during August I will get an extra 1000 points.

I'm tempted but don't really want to commit myself to £50 shops or to T*sco (prefer A*da at the moment). So I think I''ll stick with A*da and go for savings over points which I only use for magazine subs now anyway.

Good luck to everybody for August!
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.
