Ready made pizza bases and mixes.

If you haven't tried them - DONT!!!!!
Bought a pack of two for 99p and made up my own pizza's and froze em. Had them for tea last night and they were horrible. Topping was great but the bases were vile, all dry and crumble. uck. We were sat there on the sofa taking sly looks at each other to see who'd admit defeat first. I cheerily asked him how was his pizza and he looked at me with his doe eyes like a lamb about to be slaughtered and said, errrrmm before i cracked out laughing and admited they were crap. BUT HEY HO I'M TRYING!!!!!!

I buy the Neopolitana bases from Tesco, two big ones are around £2.00 I think, and one base does two of us, I usualy put the second one in the freezer and use it later. I think you can get smaller ones too..........I do make my own though in the bread maker, its usually if we are going off on holiday or somesuch I buy a packet , the bases are longlife as long as the packet is not opened..........

Dont want to go off topic and I agree about the standard Tesco bases, but how I remember that doe eyed look when an inedible meal is presented and no-one is brave enough to be the first to choke.

The last time this happened my son thought he was in the dog house because he came round while we were eating and we were a bit off hand. Truth was, the food was so awful neither of us wanted to admit it (it was supposed to have been a treat) and neither of us wanted to swallow.

ive used them and they were fine,i didnt freeze them though

The wheat eaters at my place use the plain Tesco bases, and I've taken to using the wheat free garlic naan as my pizza base...........all with success and everyone loves them

I have to agree that the wheat free bases are awful - used them once when a friend came around...she didn't hurry back!

It's a shame you can't buy ready-made wholemeal pizza bases. At the risk of being lynched, sometimes you just can't be bothered to make them in advance.

I much prefer the ones that you get in the packets in the baking aisle. I dont have a breadmaker which is why i use these, but they are good. they are about 50p, add water knead for 5 mins leave under a warm teatowel for 10 mins top, bake scoff.

I have a BM but always make my bases by hand.. it only takes a few minutes and they really are very, very nice.

i always use my BM to make my pizza bases. they are scrummy , so thick and soft. i have never bought shop bases but not sure i want to now.

I have to agree that the bases I make in the breadmaker are scrummy. Infact if my BM died tomorrow, i'd have to get another, as I could never go back to bought pizza's again.

sod pizza bases. I made 'pizza' tonight.
Buy a french loaf for about 50p, cheaper if you go shortly before closing. Cut a decent slice off it, cut in half and add tomato puree, your favourite toppings, cheese and some oregano. Put the top of the bread back on as though you're making a sandwich and wrap in tin foil. Stick it in the oven on 200 for about 15 - 20 minutes and it's bob on.
( i did, pepperoni, chicken tikka, ham, mushroom, onion and red pepper with some pizza / pasta 3 grated cheeses from asda)
