  • Party season is just more of keeping up with the Jones

The parties at our house were always the most popular

    Why

    Because I have a parachute

    Full size

If you have ever played parachute games, then you will know what I mean

I love the parachute games...never played with a full sized one though

Can I come to your next party please :D
Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches
Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

If you can't afford toys etc, get them some sweets, at least they could share them at the party with everyone.

i wouldnt like to be on the recieving end of one of your xmas or birthday presents[/quote]

Maybe not but if I only gave you sweets then to be honest I probably wouldn't really want to be buying you anything. I buy REAL friends and family decent gifts but because a person has gone through the miracle of birth does not mean they have spend their life savings on gifts for everyone else's children - I only suggested sweets as a cheaper alternative for the parents who feel they "have" to buy for 30 children (assuming every child in the class has a birthday party they invite your child to) they don't really know but would you fork out £300 on your work colleagues if you had only met them in the first 6 months of working - I doubt it!

    my story

    boy aged 3

girl in the last three months has left school
had a leavers ball £40 dress £130 limo of a friend £100 return"

If she’s 16 she’s more than able to pay a contribution – especially of things like prom dresses and limos (those “essentials”!). OK, so she has to study a bit more at college maybe, but I bet she won’t have her head in the books every night or all weekend either. Getting a little part time work will help her appreciate the value of money, important before she goes to Uni.

(PS I've just finished a year back at college as a mature student - worked P/T all the way through - got straight A's and my place at med school! So it can be done.)

she has just walked out of school with 11 A's and one b
she is doijng five as levels with the look into doing four a levels
she has a apart time job and goes straight from college to work and comes home at 10.30 pm at night 3 days a aweek and 1 weekend night

yes she might be able to contribute but you all may think im soft but shouldnt she be able to have her own independance and spend what little money she earns on herself after all i will give them everything i possibly can like every parent does.
need to have a lightbulb moment
  • I don't think myself & my husband spend as much on both of us as we do on our 5 year old!

On his 5th birthday we bought him a Leapster which cost around £50!! , the next day it was on the floor and I have since spent almost everyday day picking it up from the floor, cleaning it and putting it away! still remembering that I've spent £50!
