Problem since installing Nectar toolbar?

Hi,

I have a problem with my computer that I was hoping some helpful person on here would be able to help me with.

My profile (system administrator) is fine, but my guest profile and my housemate's profiles (non-administrator) are screwed up. This 'screwed up-ness' includes not being able to log onto Windows Messenger (error code 800c013e - I've looked it up but not found useful help), and not being able to see lots of pictures and icons on Internet Explorer - including ones which are clickable links, and also not being able to use drop down menu boxes (someone said it was something to do with 'PNG's).

I tried to fix it by installing Google Chrome on my (administrator) profile. This revealed another problem - the software doesn't show up on other profiles, and neither does the last bit of software I downloaded (the Nectar toolbar). So trying to use Google Chrome as the browser to see if it fixed it wasn't even an option.

I haven't changed any settings to cause it, and neither has my housemate, so I can only speculate that it happened when I installed the Nectar search toolbar.

Can anyone suggest what has happened?

Thanks!

  • Does the problem still exist if you uninstall the Nectar toolbar? After all, it's only worth 25p/month.

I'll test that next time I'm at my computer (writing this at work ;)), unless anyone has any other suggestions?

I've since been told that the Messenger problem came after the other problems, so it might not be the Nectar toolbar after all. Does anyone have any idea why the new software installed by the administrator is not cascading to other users?

    Poorly written software.

I think Chrome installs itself into the user profile so that more people can install it on their work computer without asking the administrator.

    Doesn't makes it better though...

Poorly written, It should ask if you want to install for all users, Most decent software does.

Recently setup a PC for a family with 6 users, Had to install 6 times with the same settings.
