Can't close windows

Can someone help me out?
I think I might have a bug in my email/MSN as my computer crashed and i've noticed the last time it happened was when I wrote a long email with different sized font and colours.
Using the taskbar to close the windows didn't help and in the end the screen went black , logged me out of my email and lost film I was watching.

Depends what version of Windows you have, but have you tried Alt + Ctrl + Del to bring up the Task Manager, where you can kill the applications that have non-responsive windows open?

Alternatively, Alt + Tab should allow you to step through all of the windows that are open.

Press and hold the power button on the computer for 5-10 seconds, let go.

Leave for one minute

Press power button again

Should be fine
