Hi Guys
stupid question maybe but here goes. I put my first item on ebay 3 days ago and put a starting bid of £1.50 on it (PS2 game). Abut 2 mins from the close someoen put the bid on it and won the item. Now to be honest - it was a bit too low and I think I should have closed the sale and relisted. Is there any way to do this? is it bad ebay ethics?

You can't blame your bidder if you started too low. Only use a starting price you are happy with. If you have no bids and more than a day to go, then sure you can change your mind and cancel the auction. To remove bids to cancel is bad ethics. There is nothing you could've done in the last two minutes anyway. Lesson learned.:wall:0

Put yourself in their position, they bid in good faith for what obviously is a bargain. I think you should learn that lesson the hard way and follow through with the sale. Maybe others would disagree?MFW predicted end date: was 6.1.2026, now 3.3.20190

Definitely bad ethics - if you had a minimum starting bid in mind you should have put that in at the outset. The whole point of EBay is that buyers can pick up bargains & sellers can shift unwanted items. Obviously if you only had the one bid it's not a popular item & it's only fair that if someone was watching it they are entitled to get it for whatever they bid.0

Yeah - I've followed through with it. Lesson learnt ..0

It's swings and roundabouts, you want your item to get bidded on (people tend to bid on lower starting items, and they go up to the "market" value). But sometimes they just don't shift, and someone gets in there and bids on it before the finish and grabs a great bargain.
i have had news both ways, a few items that have sold for the starting bid (purposely low to gain interest and cut fees), but also i have had my products sell for loads more than other items (that started off at the higher price) just by starting lower and gaining alot of watchers that were eager to outbid each other.0 -
On put a starting that you would be willing to accept, put it this way you have learnt your lesson and won't be putting sucha low price if thats not you want for it.Proud to be me, proud to be who I am!!0
