pale perpetual spinach

I am growing perpetual spinach on my new allotment. The problem i am having is that it is very pale green, its health and vigour is good but i am used to seeing dark green spinach. Is this just the type or do i need to add something to the soil/water? I use rooster poo pellets at the moment.

Mine is pale as well, but i thought that in my case it might be down to it being in a Morrisons bucket and maybe i sowed too much in it. I don't suppose my comment is any use to you but at least you are now know you are not the only one who has noticed this :)

I had some free swiss chard branded Thompson & Morgan's 'Rainbow mix' and most of that turned out to be pale looking stuff, nothing like the oranges, reds and yellows in the picture on the packet.

    It's OK though, the chickens aren't fussy!:rotfl:
