Freeview box. (any good)?

Anyone got any ideas if this freeview box is any good? i.e. decent specs and can it be used to record a prog whilst watching another prog on the tv?

It has just been delivered to my e-mail box, and I have left the DVD recorder in the post in case it is of any use to anybody.
Also if any one does decide to phone this company, I do have the geo number, so just ask

  • It looks identical to one in Asda, though theirs is a different brand and is a couple of £ cheaper.

I think Tesco had one at a similar price, with clubcard points. Not such a Noddy brand.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • I agree with Tallymanjohn and penrhyn - have a look in Tesco or ASDA firsr. As well as being cheaper it's easier to take it back if there any problems.

And to answer the OP's question; yes you can record a (Freeview) channel through the box while watching an analogue channel on the TV if you connect everything up correctly. Analogue is going to be switched off with a few years though, remember.

It is very easy to return items to this company, however if you do not live locally it would incurr expense of postage, but that is the same with any web purchase

I was under the impression that not all Freeview digi bixes could record at the same time, some thing to do with more than one tuner?

It might be being switched off, but the with a digi Freeview box that does not mean you need to get rid of your analogue t v, assuming anyone still has one at that time, but I think there will still be a lot of them out there at switch off time.

I don't think that you understood the previous post. No cheap Freeview box with a single tuner can record another digital channel while you are watching a different digital channel.

I did, but it was not answered,icon5.gif (hence why I asked the question in my OP), which wasn't fully answered in A Nice Englishmans reply re the single tuner, and there is no description of this in the advert, nor does your reply clarify the situation, does anyone know if this digi box has 2 tuners, because, AFAIK, it will only record and be able to watch another channel at the same time if it has 2.

I think he means you can record the Freeview signal and change to another channel on the TV and watch that.

That is what A Nice Englishman said in post #6 but it is one digital channel and one analogue channel, unless the TV has it's own built in digital tuner.
