My Dad pased away two weeks ago and iv been tying up his bills and bits & bobs.
I received a cheque for £20.99 fron npower for his electriity that was in credit, but the cheque has been put in Eecutors name.
Everyone else i have spoken to has asked what name to put the cheque in ?
My intension was to keep any surplus from rebates etc aswell as some cash i had of his (£400) in a seprate savings account to use to take my Dads ashes back to ireland next year with my sister and brother.
Will i have to get the cheque changed or will my bank accept it into my account ?
There is no will or assetts. His bank account has been closed by myself and a cheque was written to the funeral director.
My heads still abit everywhere so forgive me if i dont make sense x

You could try paying it into your account, under the circumstances ............ but the Bank won't accept it if they notice it or you draw attention to it!
Otherwise - as the whole estate has been dealt with informally, you will need to get the payee changed on the cheque. Simply explain to npower what you have said on here - ie that there is no executor account. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
