I really hate MBNA I've renamed them Mean Blighters Nasty Attitudes.
Had MBNA account - which I had paid off. The APR on MBNA was lower than another card I had - so I wanted to do a balance transfer.
My card had expired and in August I received a letter saying ".... valued customer...... good reasons to start using your card again..."
I rang 2nd September to request a new card, was told by advisor that card would be in post within 5 - 7 working days.
Hadn't received anything, so rang today to advise that card not received. Spoke to agent who said that card would NOT be coming as my account has now expired????? Evidently the credit analysist are not going to send my card - but won't say why. I asked to speak to a manager - only to be told that the manager would only say the same thing. I said it was free phone number and that I didn't care how long I was on the phone for - but that I wanted to speak to someone else regarding this....
Agent came back on line to say that his line manager - Laura wouldn't come on the phone, because she'd only tell me the same thing. I then asked for the name of her line manager - only to be told I COULDN'T be told that information because it's RESTRICTED (
). I asked for their job title then: Departmental Manager - Customer Satisfaction
Eventually spoke to someone who said - my account has expired, the letter was sent to me in error - but as a gesture they've CLOSED my account now to prevent me from getting anymore letters....
Any advice on the next step?

Does sound very unusual, and not very satisfactory at all! I'm afraid I don't have any practical advice but it might be worth cross-posting this onto the Credit Cards board to see if anyone else has had the same experiences?DFW Nerd 0350

Hi - I thought about posting there first - but then thought it was more of a vent. But will post there also - many thanks."A simple life freely chosen is a source of strength. Do not be pursuaded into buying what you do not need or cannot afford." Quaker Faith & Practice 1.02.410
