The caps aren't hard to remove (at least the ones I did weren't), it's just boring and fiddly. File or dremel one side of the cap right down until it's just touching the valve container thread.
Then cut a slot in the top to weaken it and a nut splitter will spread it easily enough.

Chances are just filing the side down to just touch the threads will allow the WD40 to get in there.

i was going to suggest this. why not cut slots up the side of the cap with a junior hacksaw,or as above with a file or dremel? worth a bash i suppose. the caps will be made of a soft aluminium so should cut easily.

The valves have sensors in them and they talk to the car's ECU.

They can be turned off, but it wont cost much. Maybe half an hours labour to someone with the right laptop.

They are all colour coded and have to stay on the right wheel hub, otherwise you get all sorts of annoying messages if you put a wheel back in the wrong place.

Cut the ends of the dust caps off and spray lightly some WD40 in to it, leave it over night and try up doing them

Sounds like cooking, only easier - ha ha!!

All in all, an excellent way to ensure continued dealership tyre sales at overinflated (pun intended) prices.....

Had this problem myself but mine had been on a year rather than a few days,

A gentle squeeze with a good set of grips across all 3 prs of flats, (these where hexagonal caps that could be secured with a spanner to prevent theft) was all that was needed to lease the bond without damaging the valve. I'd try that 1st. ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Interestingly one of my sensor valves has corroded and the first 3-4mm has broken off exposing the valve stem.

    Just more hassle.....
  • What concerns me is the fact that Eddie's mate relied on these sensors for up to 12 months without manually checking the pressures! That's how I read the first post. Surely the caps wouldn't "corrode" on in a couple os weeks or less if the tyres had been regularly checked? Maybe the "whatever reason" was to actually make sure the pressures are o.k.?
    Isn't technology and gimmicks useful?!

It's a fair point, I actually misread this as per my earlier post, which makes me as gulity as the op. But the fact is that if modern technology gives you a system that says "your tyres are the correct pressure", or in my case "they are puncture proofed", you tend to go with it?????

They really put the pressure sensors in the valves?

I thought most TMPS systems worked on monitoring the rotation of the tyres and not the "real pressure" in the tyre.
