I've never had a problem with my bank (HSBC) and the 5 bags a day thing, and whenever I've asked for bags they've handed over great wodges without batting an eyelid. I used to take the coins in and exchange them for notes which I then put in my purse and used for shopping (and transferred the equivalent to savings account using online banking:D). However, these days I tend to take bags of money in and pay them off my bills, and again, nobody has ever refused to take over a certain number of bags - I think its probably more difficult for them to refuse to take them when a customer is trying to pay a bill though...?!;)
However, in fairness, I should say that I do try to take multiple bags of the same sort of coins at the same time - i.e. bags of £2 for one bill, bags of 20ps the next time for another bill, etc, etc, as they can set their machine to weigh all the bags at once, rather than having to keep changing the settings on it - so it doesn't really add much time to the transaction and maybe that helps my cause...

I've seen these for as little as £5.99
My local Woolworths has 2 sorts at the minute - I think both are half price at £14.99 and £19.99 (the latter being the "Deluxe plus")
Having said that I know I've seen Woolworths selling one for £9.99 not long ago.
The one I looked sometime ago automatically stops if any of the "sorted columns" reached a "full" position
There appear to be 3 online at Woolies including the £14.99 one

Saw one of these coin sorters in WHSmith yesterday for JUST £9.99
I asked if they were any good and the assistant said that one of them had immediately found its way into their back office as soon as they came into stock some months ago. It is used every night to do the coins for their bagging up for banking.
It has 8 sorting tubes and handles the following amounts before a tube is full
50 x 1p
25 x 2p
40 x 5p
50 x 10p
50 x 20p
40 x 50p
25 x £1
25 x £2
