Hi all. I am posting on here because I need some advise and I cant seem to find what I am looking for, so I figured I should just ask. I bought a dell 1737 laptop from dell in may of last year and in the last two months it has developed a fault. The casing around the screen started to crack in june and when I phoned them up at the end of june they told me it would cost £160 to fix. I refused to pay this as I think that the laptop is faulty, thgis is not my fault! Anyways, the laptop surround has now broken completely and since I turnde it off yesterday it has decided not to turn back on. I phoned dell and after being given the run around,spoke to someone and politely explained thta surely a laptop should last alot longer than 14 mnths and surely they should fix it. I also mentioned my rights as a consumer. They told me that someone would ring me back today, which they have, only for them to snottily tell me that as \i bought the laptop unde3r a b usiness name, my hubbys we use it to do the accounts, I cannot claim for statutory rights as i have none and they will not be repairing it, thank you very much! Now I cannot afford to buy a new laptop, that one cost £400 a year ago, but surely they cannot get away with that?? 14 months cannot be a reasonable life span for a laptop. Can anyone advise me if \I do actually have any rights and if so what they may be! I apologise for the spelling mistakes etc, I am writing this on my sons netbook, and the keys are tiny!! Sorry, I don't know all the ins and outs of this but I think they are right - if you have purchased as a business, you do not get the same rights as a consumer. I think the only way would be to prove that there was a fault with the laptop and that you haven't caused the damage yourself by dropping or some such. I would have thought this would be quite hard to do though, sorry.0

I am not sure but I would expect you still have some rights as a business customer (but Im not sure what) although I would expect them to be different to consumer right.... Otherwise all retailers would just flog dodgy goods to business customers who wouldnt be able to do anything about it.....:eek:0
