Hi,I live in a rented flat and am pushing the landlord into turfing an area of the garden. The area is approx 60 x 25 feet.Obviously cost is an issue.Has anyone had an easy success with grass seed or does this only work with good care and maintenance.Alternately what is a rough price per square foot/metre for turf. Thanks

I think that you are being a bit lazy here. Just Google turf to find out exactly how much it costs. I would not recommend seeding for an area that size unless you were prepared to look after it until it had become established.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

I think you are being rude!.I have googled turf prices. All of the sites I found asked customers to contact them for a quote. If you are not able to offer constructive help or advice, please keep your judgemental thoughts to yourself.

We had an area at the back of our garden turfed within the last few weeks and it worked out at approx £5 per m2 and this included levelling the ground, removing lots of stones and then preparing and laying the turf. Hope this helps a bit :-)
Please remember to thank fellow MSE'rs

If you want a cheap way but not an instant result try Canada Green Perfect Grass, as it says it will grow anywhere.

I don't know what web sites you were looking at, but I had a job finding one that did require you to ring them. They nearly all seemed to have a quote page that enabled you to order on line. Have a nice day Mr Grumpy.

  • I have just had my garden turfed, I investigated the possibility of doing it my self, buying the turf its self is very expensive, my garden is 100 sqm and online prices ranged from £325 - £400 this was just for the turf. you have to take into consideration the cost of Rotavating, levelling and raking.
The turfing is an art in its self, if you do it wrong, it will die. Best to get a company in to do it.
My garden cost me £270 inc rotavating, levelling and raking, in my opinion get a company into do it, well worth it and you get instant results.
