Have just used the new Tesco Clubcards deal with RedSpottedHanky to prebook rail tickets for a weekend break in July. No booking fees, tickets are posted out first class or print at station - and a first class return priced at £79 cost the princely sum of £4 after redeeming points worth £25 for vouchers worth £75!

I'm sure its not at all, but I find Clubcard a bit confusing!

I telephoned and had historic vouchers sent to me in Jan/Feb, I've not spent these and have just receieved another couple this week. I think I want to use them towards hotels, do I just do nothing until I have sufficient vouchers and am ready to book, then go about converting them?

    Yes.
The only thing to watch out for are expiry dates of vouchers (2 yrs).
The best thing to do is to go online and read up on hotels section. It explains it very clearly what to do.

    ie Barcelo hotels
    1. Choose how much in Clubcard vouchers you'd like to exchange, on the right, and then click 'add to basket'.
    - any change from your vouchers will be credited to your Clubcard Account.
    2. We'll send you Hotel Tokens and details on how to use them, within 5 working days of your order being placed.
    3. Decide which hotel you'd like to stay at.
    4. You must have ordered and received your Hotel Tokens before you book.
    - you will be required to state the value of your Hotel Tokens and may be required to provide the serial number on each Token.
    5. You must book with the hotel company at least 14 days before you wish to stay.
    6. Only valid on Barcel! Hotels' Best Available Bed and Breakfast rates.
    7. Minimum stay 2 nights, valid Friday to Sunday inclusive and is based on 2 people sharing a standard double/twin room.
    8. Hotel Tokens can be used as full or part payment for your stay – you can top them up with cash.
    9. You can find out more about this reward by looking at the PDF, below (Additional information).
    10. Enjoy your stay!
    Things to remember...
    • Room availability is limited and prices may vary depending on time of booking.
    • Clubcard vouchers are not accepted by suppliers; you must exchange them for tokens.
    • Tokens are not transferable and will be issued with the name shown on your Clubcard vouchers and may be printed with your postcode.
    • Terms and conditions apply, please see the bottom of the page and the PDF (Additional information).

    Many thanks, Any.:D
  • i cant see any reason why someone wouldnt get loyalty cards, especially clubcard.

I don't go out of my way to get items with more points because I don't really bother to look haha. None of my friends have a card so if we're all going on a booze run or something I end up just getting all their points. I also drive past a Tesco directly on my way to work everyday so its my choice for getting petrol. Thats 240+ points a month without going out my way in the slightest. Using it for petrol basically gets me over a free tank of petrol each year which is fine with me!

Has anyone on here ever just saved up vouchers, got something using them on the rewards (therefore 3x the value) and then just selling the item?

I mean I bought a £300 watch using them. Im keeping it cos I want it, but I could easily just sell it and have the cash...
  • I wish some of the people who cant be bothered swiping a club card, waiting for vouchers, exchanging them and spending them would PM me.

I have a few spare key fobs they can carry at no effort and hand over in tesco when shopping.

I promise there will be no messy vouchers or exchanges but at least i could collect these errant points just disappearing into the ether!

In the new reduced redemption value era, I too welcome redspottedhanky.com into Mr T's stable.

Went to see the glorious Tim Minchin in Glasgow last w/e using their 1st class tickets from Cambridge - £36.50[consider the petrol equivalent]. Wonderful journey up the East Coast line. Tickets were generated @ 21.58h on 19/4, received next day, free 1st class post in jolly spotted folder. Also stayed at Glasgow YH on Mr T vouchers and ate out at Caf! Rouge ditto.
    I'm a fan.
