I too have received notification of an increase with them.. The problem I have is I don't actually know if the rates remain a good deal or not as I don't know anything about what the norm is... Could someone clarify please? My rates are;
Elec - standing charge 35.28 per day, 9.610 per kw
Gas - " " 50.40 " " 2.85 per kw (I know at least that my standing charge has doubled for gas)
Many thanks!0 -
Just noticed on the f.u t&cs that:
Dual fuel discount of 12.5% payable annually after 12 consecutive direct debit payments
Well my annual discount is due in November however I have only had 1 x gas bill and 2 x electric although they were massive ones, will f.u use this as a get out?. Although I do wonder if it is worth getting tied into this much more expensive tariff by waiting for my discount while I have an opportunity to escape it by refusing the price increases.0 -

What tariff where you previously on.
I thought V4 was there latest tariff.
Maybe you are a special case.
Hi there my current tariff is isave v3.3 the v5 tariff isn't uploaded on their website yet(that's what they told me give them a call and say you are going to leave. You only have 20 daysto inform them you want to leave to avoid paying the increase0 -
I subscribed last year to First Utility i Save dual fuel package which was competitive and offered a worthwhile discount after a one year contract. 6 months later they increased the gas standing charge by 67% and Electricity standing charge by 20% as well as a sizeable increase in unit price.
They then advertised a new version of the same plan (version 5) at much much lower prices. When I asked to move to the newer version I was told I could not do so before one year without losing the accrued discount.
This is a snide scheme to lock people in at what appear to be competitive prices then raise the price to ensure that any discount is worthless and at the same time introduce a new version of the same thing at much much lower prices to snare the next batch of unsuspecting consumers.
Potential new First Utility customers.... BEWARE !!0 -
This is what they offer today in my region + £50 cashback if you sign up on line on their website.
After reading all poets here and on main thread too good to be true or not!
Has anyone anything good to say about them?

First Utility are liars and con merchants who will say anything to get you to sign up, once you are with them they will try to squeeze every penny they can out of you until you manage to get away, stay clear for your own sanity
And if watching a smart meter is appealing to you then you really should get a life or seek some form of counselling , why anyone would want one is beyond me .0 -

What gave you the idea i want to watch a smart meter.
I already have a life thank you very much, don't need counselling and don't get gas or electric from FU, no cause to be bitterBe good to the young on their way up you might need them on your way down.0 -

It was not directed at you personally but as a warning to others considering this cowboy outfit. I am certainly bitter about this company and would love to see them put out of business as they really are the worst company I have ever come across .
I have spent many hours not to mention expense fighting to get them to bill me correctly for my gas and electric since November of last year.
I have been to the Ombudsman and nothing works, it really is like banging your head against a brick wall .
When you get to speak to someone they are clueless about what to do , and I always manage to speak to what seems to be a schoolchild who is temporarily standing in for a grown up, and they say "they will get someone to call me back" which never happens.0
